These ramps can be cut with extreme precision in a
stepwise fashion from the lowest reed to the very
highest. As reeds become shorter in length and
higher in pitch, changing from lower to higher
frequencies, more air pressure is required to cause
the reed to vibrate. These vibrations are virtually
imperceptible. The space in the channel when
optimized for length and frequency provides a
more rapid response with less air pressure.

Notice the significant ramping in the high reed
slots.

Black translucent lucite provides a better view of the ramping of the
channels and how extensive it is in the very high reeds.

Inserts are employed for all screw type fasteners
including the mouthpiece assembly. Inserts are machined finished and secured
with a
combination of a pressure fit and cyanocrylic
cement for a permanent installation. Some fasteners are silver plated
to match the design of the instrument being constructed. Others are gold
plated for the same purpose. All fasteners are phillips head style for
simplicity and safety.

Body inserts are size 0-80 custom made from brass. Fasteners can be either
stainless steel or
brass, silver or gold plate. Mouthpiece Inserts
are custom made size 1-72. Fasteners are stainless
steel or brass also plated to the instruments
design.
